Since October of 1991, Dr. Johnson has been involved with mission dentistry. He has donated his time and services as director of the Denver Cherry Creek Rotary Club Dental Mission Project, which he co-founded. Below is a link to their web page. The project works to provide free dental care to marginalized individuals in countries throughout Latin America. Dr. Johnson has led multiple dental missions to Guatemala, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Peru, Honduras, Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico, Chile, and most recently Panama. To date, the DCCR Dental Mission Project has provided in excess of 1.5 million dollars in donated dental services. In recognition of his service, Dr. Johnson was presented with Rotary International’s “Service Above Self” award in 2003. This recognition is awarded to less than 100 individuals annually throughout the world. Additionally, the Metropolitain Denver Dental Society presented Dr. Johnson with their Community Service Recognition Award for “Outstanding Service to the World Community” in 2004. Dr. Johnson takes great pride in his mission dentistry work and its ability to impact the dental health and happiness of thousands underpriviledged patients in need.
